Weather station

by clay on January 15, 2007

So, I have my new weather station up. However, I'm not terribly pleased with the information I'm getting out of it. I think I may need to move it, because it's not tracking the wind speeds very well. I think I've got it too close to the roof and it's getting too much turbulence from [...]

Such lovely weather

by clay on December 29, 2006

Here in Texas, we don't have a White Christmas. We have tornadoes. Yes, it's 29 December 2006. We have had at least four tornado reports so far, and it's probably going to continue in to the evening. I love it when people think we can predict the weather.

Only in Texas

by clay on November 29, 2006

We're about to start experiencing some really fun weather here, but I think this image really says it all. Only here in Texas can we SIMULTANEOUSLY be under a tornado watch and a winter storm watch. Good stuff. And yes, I'll be watching the skies all day long. In about an hour, we'll get some [...]

It’s been raining today.

by clay on November 6, 2006

Actually tonight. For about an hour and a half. We have three and a half inches of rain now. It's been a good night. UPDATE: The grand total after last night was 4.45 inches. Needless to say, it's wet out there.

Point to the senator from Oklahoma

by clay on October 3, 2006

You've got to love this exchange between CNN's Miles O'Brien and Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma. Here's the best part. INHOFE: I heard your piece [CNN’s March 2006 Global Warming Special called ‘Melting Point’] on that, and you did a very excellent piece. You scared a lot of people when you did your special.

Why The Weather Channel is stupid

by clay on September 19, 2006

I used to watch The Weather Channel (hereafter known as TWC because I don’t want to type it all out) all the time. I would leave it on all night long if for nothing but the music. I’m a certified weather nut, but I can’t stand the channel anymore. Why? Because they aren’t catering to [...]

I’m not even going to attempt to say I understand what went on in New Orleans last year during Katrina. I will say that I think the rest of the Gulf Coast got hit worse (by the hurricane, important distinction) and has not received nearly the press coverage but that’s an arugment for another day. [...]

What I need

by clay on June 10, 2006

I’ve really noticed that there is something missing in my life. Actually, this isn’t a new thing for me. I guess I’ve known it for quite a while. It’s just readily apparent to me right now, being home by myself. I have no focus. My mind goes a thousand different ways all the time. Being [...]

Just a couple quick things

by clay on June 7, 2006

I noticed I haven’t posted anything since my hurricane post, so what could be better than following that up with another one? I renewed my subscription to Accuweather Pro this week, mainly because I enjoy reading Joe Bastardi’s columns everyday. I can’t pass on what he says in them because of copyright, but he is [...]
