This is moronic

I’m as much of a global warming skeptic as anyone, but this is just stupid. Grassfire.org is sponsoring Carbon Belch Day, asking people to pledge:

On June 12 I will do my best to increase my CO2 output and unleash a Carbon Belch on the planet. I do this with no fear or concern that I am destroying the planet. In fact, I think a good Carbon Belch can be healthy now and again.

So, in order to prove that we don’t think global warming is occurring to the level that some say that it is, we pollute just as much as possible? Isn’t this the equivalent of saying “McDonald’s doesn’t make people fat, so to prove it I’m going to eat 32 Big Macs and call on everyone who agrees with me to do the same!”? It may not kill you or make you fat immediately, but it will sure make you sick.

Something like this does nothing to change people’s minds about climate change. All it does is demonstrate that skeptics aren’t interested in debate either, simply public relations stunts and grandstanding. If we want to elevate the debate above this, then let’s do something worthwhile. This isn’t it.
